Stachys officinalis ‘Hummelo’ is the 2019 Perennial Plant of the Year selected by the Perennial Plant Association. ‘Hummelo’ is a compact, clump-forming perennial, growing up to about to 2 feet tall and wide.
Over time, the plants will spread slowly from creeping underground stems. The showy purple to magenta flower spikes rise above the foliage in midsummer. Butterflies and other pollinators love this plant too! ‘Hummelo’ grows best in full sun and well drained soil and is a very pest and disease free plant.
