‘Solar Flare’ Echinacea

I love coneflowers or Echinacea in the garden and have many different varieties. Many are taller, but Sargent’s also has several varieties that stay two feet or under. The standard purple coneflower is beautiful for most of the summer, but how can you pass up some of these beauties?  Coneflowers all prefer full sun with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight.

My favorite is ‘Solar Flare’.  The magenta color is outstanding and the very dark stems add contrast to the dark green foliage.   Solar Flare is a taller variety at around 36″, but worth it if you have the space for something a bit taller.

If you are looking for something on the smaller side try the plants from the PowWow series.  Shown are ‘PowWow Wild Berry’ and ‘PowWow White’. These plants are around 18-24″ tall and work well in the front the garden in front of taller plants.  Learn more about these Coneflower varieties and other perennials using Sargent’s PlantFinder.  All perennials are now Buy 5, Get 1 FREE.
